TRANSFORMING FRACTURE RISK
ASSESSMENT FOR CANCER PATIENTS
WITH VERTEBRAL METASTASES
Computer-aided effective fracture risk stratification of patients with vertebral metastases for personalised treatment through robust computational models validated in clinical settings

Approach

The data-driven (METASTRA-AI) and the physiology-based (METASTRA-VPH, METASTRA-VPH-TREAT) models will be developed separately and incorporated into a two-tier Decision Support System (DSS). To rapidly accumulate a substantial number of cases (n=2,000), we will initiate a retrospective multicentric study (Train-METASTRA), facilitating the development of METASTRA-AI and METASTRA-VPH. The operational testing of the DSS will rely on an independent dataset obtained through an observational prospective study (Validate-METASTRA), ensuring consistent and comprehensive patient data collection. We will consider the suitability of the DSS for potential future deployment as a Software as a Medical Device (SAMD) throughout all stages of development and validation.
