New Video: Florian Rieger on Spine Biomechanics and the METASTRA Project

We are excited to share a new video featuring Florian Rieger, PhD researcher in spine biomechanics at ETH Zurich and a key contributor to the METASTRA project.

In the video, Florian walks us through his research on intervertebral disc load transfer and the development of a finite element model designed to predict fracture risk in patients with metastatic bone disease. He also reflects on what makes METASTRA's interdisciplinary approach so valuable, bringing together modellers, clinicians, experimentalists, AI specialists, and regulatory experts under one shared goal: translating in-silico science into real clinical practice.

"I really hope that with this approach, we can reduce the incidence of under- and over-treatment of metastatic cases," Florian says, "and improve the quality of life of patients suffering from primary cancer or secondary tumours."
